Use the Free Rotate tool to rotate a photo by freehand using the mouse, or to rotate a photo according to a specified angle.
To find the tool:
Click the Photos button on the Navigation panel.
Click the Rotate & Crop icon located below the buttons.
Click the Free Rotate tool on the Toolbar.
To rotate the photo by freehand:
Click the Free Rotate tool on the Toolbar. The photo in the Work area is enclosed within a dashed perimeter called a bounding box. A small blue ball, or rotation handle, is displayed "hanging" from the top boundary of the box.
Point at the rotation handle. The pointer is displayed as two, clockwise-rotating arrows.
Drag the rotation handle to rotate the photo by freehand. The photo is rotated about its center. The number of degrees by which the photo has been rotated is displayed in the Rotation Angle field located below in the Settings area.
Note: Click the Reset button in the Settings area to restore the photo to its original orientation.
When you are satisfied with the rotation, click the Apply button to set the rotation angle. Note that the photo's rotation angle is set as the new zero (0) baseline.
Note: After you click the Apply button, you cannot restore the photo to its original orientation using the Reset button, nor does the Undo tool on the Command bar serve this purpose. To return to the original orientation, you must reload the photo. If this is what you wish to do, make sure you do not save the changes when you are prompted to do so before closing the photo in its current state.
To rotate the photo by a specified angle:
Click the Free Rotate tool on the Toolbar.
In the Rotation Angle field, enter the angle by which you wish to rotate the photo. Use the + / - buttons to increase / decrease the angle in increments of 5 degrees.
Note: Click the Reset button in the Settings area to restore the photo to its original position.
When you are satisfied with the rotation, click the Apply button to set the rotation angle. Note that the photo's new rotation angle is set as the new zero (0) baseline.
